Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme over at That Artsy Girl which I absolutely love. I often don’t manage all ten, but I give it a good go! Check out the link for a list of previous and future topics.
The theme this week is Authors I’d Like to Meet, which is such an awesome prompt. I get very anxious thinking about meeting authors, especially if I admire and love their work, but I’m going to answer as if that wouldn’t hold me back. Let’s go!
1. Sabaa Tahir
It’s no secret that I love the Ember in the Ashes series (if you haven’t picked it up yet, I highly recommend you do), and to meet the woman behind the story and characters I’d love would be unbelievable. Sabaa also seems like such a cool, nerdy person from her social media, and someone I could definitely connect with.
2. Anna-Marie McLemore
I think I’m a little bit in love with Anna-Marie McLemore just from her beautiful writing. I keep talking about her in every tag but I can’t express how much I adore the way she writes, and from her social media presence, she just seems like such a soft, kind person. I’d be completely intimidated because of her talent, but I feel she would be kind enough to make me feel at ease.
3. V.E. Schwab
Again, I think the case would be that I’d be completely intimidated because of how talented she is, but my childish sense of ‘I want to be like her when I grow up!’ will probably win. I love her aesthetic, her wit, her stories, and the discussions she has started about fantasy written by queer women. But I’d also like to tell her to please sleep and (if I could afford it) give her an all-inclusive holiday to somewhere warm and without internet.
4. Ashley Herring Blake
I would love to meet Ashley Herring Blake just to tell her how much I love Girl Made of Stars and how much the book meant to me. I doubt I’d have the courage if I did ever meet her, however, because of how personal and sensitive the book itself is. If you haven’t read it, huge trigger warning for rape and sexual assault.
5. Tomi Adeyemi
This is another case where I would probable be stunned into silence the moment I met her, but I’d power through to tell her how amazing Children of Blood and Bone was, and how excited I am for the sequel. She’s an inspiration to all writers, I feel, and every time I see someone talking about her or her books, I just can’t stop smiling. She’s also the badass I wish I was. If you haven’t seen the videos of her boxing on her social media, you need to. I always wonder if authors would survive in the ruthless worlds they create, and I know for a fact Tomi would!
6. Angie Thomas
Is it weird for me to tell Angie I’m proud of her? That’s the only way I can describe how I feel whenever I see promo for the THUG movie, or the book winning awards, or people tweeting her about how much the book meant to them. She’s a writing force to be reckoned with, and also seems like the sweetest and most lovable person ever. I just want the best for everyone on this list, Angie being at the top.
I could go on, and maybe will in another post, but I think these are the main people I’d love to meet. What’s amazing is that this list is only going to grow the more I read, and the more this amazing community we have continues to expand and do what we love.
Which authors make it to your list? Let me know!
Until the next one,
Abby.
Great list. A lot of these would make mine too. I’ve actually attended 2 events with Victoria Schwab and honestly she’s one of the nicest authors I’ve met. I’m always a nervous wreck and talk a load of rubbish but she was wonderful. If you get the chance you should def go see her.

I’d seriously love to! I think my chance would be if/when she does events in Scotland because I’m up in northern England, where no one really goes 😂

Well she’s living in Edinburgh (some of the year) so hopefully there will be lots more Scottish events. Although she just had one a month or so ago so may be a wait.
